Ripe London made an appearance last night on UKTV Food's Market Kitchen. Thanks very much to Kevin Braddock for braving it with me and to all the kind people at the show for having me. I've just spent an absurd amount of time navigating the techie booby traps involved in getting this tiny clip on here, so I hope you get a giggle out of it. Oh yeah, and don't ever take cake on a date. Or give away all your pancakes too quickly.

Jessica Stone should have her own show in the UK!! DELIGHTFUL AND SAUCY!! or the Food Network in the U.S.??

Nice one! You're a natural. Did you make that actual cake though? We need to know...

Thank you, Daisy dear! You are too kind.
Do you mean the cake on the show, Justin? Not that one, but definitely the one I took on the date. It was a St Honore made with choux pastry and custard. Very white and wedding like, though the possible interpretation slipped my mind since it was nowhere near my intention. Background that I didn't mention in the segment: I was doing the Le Cordon Bleu patisserie course (chef training) so that's why I had made this cake. I was making tons of cake, every day, and needed to unload it. The guy freaked out.

Ripe London is much too refined for that channel; she doesn't yell at the top of her lungs...the first requirement for the appearing on the Food Network!

He must have been a bit of a sensitive soul. If anyone brings me cake, ever, I am delighted, no matter how white or weddingy.

Thanks very much, Linda!
Sensitive, or perhaps paranoid. The weirdest thing to me was that he didn't touch the slice all night; he actually took it home. I am certain he never ate it. Either he thought I laced it or he hates sweets. It clearly would never have worked.

I love the wedding dress comment! All our Nashville men very much fit the oh-no-she-wants-to-marry-me category. Or maybe it's that I keep wearing wedding dresses to my first dates. Who knows!! :)

Very funny, Mel! I think it's the same whether you're in Nashville or Nottingham.
Thanks, Howard!
